A week after we moved in, it was time to mow the grass. After all the rain we had in the wet season it was growing rapidly.
So armed each with a normal mower, we charged down in our "magic forest" and started mowing. Let's take a minute to explore!

A glimpse of the house from our "magic forest" |
The birds love it just as much as we do! Beside "Digger" and "root bags", which you have already met in one of my previous post, we share our "magic forest" with....
|
The grey currawong |
|
Plover |
|
We call it quail |
|
Kookaburra |
|
Lorikeets |
|
And the King Parrot. Isn't he stunning? |
Just to name a few...
However, we didn't realise it would take us that long to do only a third of the whole property!
After an hour and a half of non-stop mowing, we took a break and talked about buying a ride on mower to make the job easier.
The next day we went to Atherton and bought a "Greenfield" (Australian made!) which was delivered the same afternoon.
|
What a beautiful little number!... |
Sven happily jumped on it, whizzing through the block like a natural.
|
And off he goes |
Of course I had to have a go as well...
|
Yeehaah! |
Even Flicka enjoyed a ride on it as you can see!
It takes just over an hour now to do something that we would have dreaded doing with normal mowers...
With this chore out of the way, we celebrated Sven's birthday.

Happy Birthday Viking! |
